what a crappy night for bay area sports last night!!
james and i were lucky enough to score some sweet tickets for the sharks game last night and enjoyed a delish meal at the grill at the tank. it was super snotty and i was over the poor service, but it was fun to enjoy a nice meal at a place not hopping with crazy kids or sharks fans that have to scream about how much they love hockey. right before our meal was served, the power went out at the tank!! luckily there were candles on each table, so that provided some light before a few dim backup lights came on. this of course caused a delay in the game starting, which meant there was still time to find a tv in a bar in the club area that would have the cal game on!!
it was perfect timing, and got to see the last play of the game...although we literally ran there and i had no idea how much time was left. it was so odd to see what happened, and think...wait...that was the last play...really?? it was such a freshman mistake, and i honestly can't believe it happened. oh well, i guess cal would never really have a shot at being number one. which is good, because i hate all the fairweather fans at memorial stadium anyway...
after that horrible disappointment, it was onto the sharks!! the PA and sound system weren't working, and i guess the crew there was trying to get it back up before the start of the game. that didn't happen, so the zambonis came out and cleaned up the ice, and it was GAME ON!! the sharks skated on the ice...not through the sharks head, or fog, or sound, or flashy lights, but let me tell you that it was the loudest the shark tank has ever been. beyond "playoff loud" as it's called. i was super pumped for the start of the game, hoping the delay would only get the sharks totally ready to beat the bruins!! how sad the game was once it started. nabby flopped around AS USUAL, and the bruins looked like they were just hanging out. it honestly looked as if they didn't have a care in the world once they scored. they didn't really need to do much for the rest of the game, but there was a huge momentum shift when the sharks finally scoooooored!! i think it woke boston up, and they just answered back in a few seconds, and the whole thing was over. i felt like boston was in total control for the whole game, and pretty much skated around the sharks all evening. :(
AHHHHHHHH!! i really really wanted cal to be number one for a week!! oh well, it's not like they lost to stanFUrd or anything horrible like that. and the sharks have a few billion more games i can worry about, so it's not the end of the road for them, either. just a crappy weekend for bay area sports. :(
