I saw it written and I saw it say
Pink moon is on its way
And none of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
It's a pink moon
Hey, it's a pink moon
(pink moon, nick drake)

it is seriously so odd for me to think that this year has come and gone already. it's weird to think that a year ago, i was starting my second day of driving with bean up to canada. little did i know that i would be denied the first time!! YIKES!!

do you ever think about where you'll be in one year?? one year ago i sure as heck didn't think i'd be back in cali. i wonder where i'll be next year and what i'll be doing.

i am glad i'm taking it easy this new year's eve, and really trying to be mellow and reflective. i feel so bad saying no to all the fun parties, but this is such a perfect day for me to be home. i really needed this weekend to catch up on sleep, and i've done a pretty good job so far.

tonight, it's movie night with a fire and a bit of bubbly to ring in the new year. i hope that wherever you are, you're having a blast.

xoxoxo!!

You've got your ball,
You've got your chain
Tied to me tight, tie me up again.
Who's got their claws
In you my friend?
Into your heart I'll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock,
And sweet you roll
Lost for you, I'm so lost for you

Oh, and you come crash into me
And I come into you
(crash into me, dave matthews band)

i'm not 100% sure, because i cannot always remember every element of my dream, but i'm almost positive i dreamt of scary waves last night/this morning. i think i was almost being tossed out in the middle of the ocean by big, pounding waves, but i stayed calm, and after some time, it cleared and i was okay. below is what i found at a dream interpretation site.

To dream that you are caught in a tidal wave, signifies the strength of your emotions, perhaps accompanied by tears that you are holding back in your waking life.

To hear waves crashing in your dream, indicates tenderness and relaxation. It also brings about feelings of sensuality and sexuality.

To see clear, calm waves in your dream, signifies a calming of emotions. It may also signal an important decision to be made.

big sigh. horray for this year finally ending. let's start with a clean slate, eh?

Nothing on the TV that you'd want to see
And it's hardly ever snowing
The way it's meant to be
Like in White Christmas year after year
Bing Crosby, Bring Crosby
Are you listening to me?

It doesn't often snow at Christmas
The way it's meant to do
(it doesn't often snow at christmas, pet shop boys)

maybe i shouldn't be wishing for natural disasters for christmas. there was a small earthquake last night that woke me up, and another one that woke me up again. okay, i was just kidding about anything bad happening!! i just wanted to be snowed in and forced to eat warm things, hee hee!! but hey, if this relieves a bit of pressure on bay area faults, i'm all for it!!

People love and people hate
People go and people wait
But, don't forget Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
Once were a family poor but rich in hope, yeah
Don't forget Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
Running from the law, King Herod had imposeth
And they were each one quite odd
And mensch, a virgin, and a God
But don't forget that what kept them aflow
Floating through the desert doesnt take a boat no
Don't forget that what kept them above
Is unconditional love
(spotlight on christmas, rufus wainright)

sometimes, just sometimes, i wish it would snow like crazy here.

then i would be forced to stay inside for a few days living on soup and hot chocolate while sitting by the fire in my jammies.

is it weird to wish for a blizzard for christmas??

It's always such a lonely loom
It's sudden like a broken bone
And your luck wont always come along
So dry your tears away
Butterfly
Go ahead and fly
(butterfly, dave matthews)

horray!! the family circus comic from late november is finally online, and here it is:

last weekend was totally full of fun stuff, but i seriously felt like i had no time to myself and i didn't feel fully recharged for this week!! i'm trying to lay low this weekend and relax a bit before i go on a cleaning rampage before everyone arrives for christmas. i'm hoping to be able to finish up some last minute chores and errands by this afternoon and sit by the tree with a big cup of hot chocolate, my sweats, and a book.

last saturday, michelle had her baby shower!! i can't believe how great she looks, and the cute clothes that are out now!! she's gonna be such a hot mama!! stacy threw a fun and girly tea party. it was a super adorable theme for a baby shower and it was a lot of fun. miss caitlin ruled at the clothespin game...even though i tricked her first thing. i swear i didn't mean to!! hee hee...it all evened out by the end cause she was the big winner. :)

after driving back from that, erik and i went to the sharks game. i was soooo tired from not sleeping a whole lot the night before and then going to michelle's baby shower. i kept telling erik that i was going to fall asleep...in the beginning of the second period. hee hee!! cheechoo scored two that night. i was sad he couldn't complete a hat trick, but i guess he was nervous cause i was there. totally kidding. ;)

on sunday, i was baking with the roomies!! i went to target to get some frosting and holiday cupcake wrappers. i ended up getting slightly smaller wrappers than i wanted (booooooo!!) and some holiday frosting. now i am the queen of holiday cupcakes. i buy this stuff ALL the time, and am well aware of what i need. the frosting always shows on the outside as the holiday color, but it's really white inside. for instance, the halloween holiday frosting is shown as an ugly orange/peach color on the outside, but it's really white inside!! i have the finished product, some really yummy looking halloween cuppicakes to prove it!! well, i bought the christmas frosting cause it comes with sprinkles on top, and it's light green on the outside. guess what color it actually is on the inside. yup, ugly ugly light green. i was so pissed!! hahahahahahah!!

i had a great time catching with my roomies, and it always seems like there's too much time that goes inbetween when we hang out. thank goodness we're doing dinner in the city this tuesday along with some other hot lair mamas!!

like i said, i'm trying to catch up on sleep and organize my life this weekend. i gave blood yesterday which was a bit of a fiasco. two people couldn't find my veins in EITHER arm. grrrrrrrr. the first time they went to draw blood, it hurt me so bad that tears started to form in my eyes, and it was all i could do not to start crying. that lady was jabbing and poking and ahhhhhhhh, it was so painful!! she was about to tell me it was okay to leave, and i was like, "aw hell no, we're trying the other arm. and not jabbing as much, mmmmkay??" luckily she popped the other one in. i totally got jacked up with bruises on both arms tho. i look like a junkie.

i was hoping that by donating blood, i would be able to take a really long nap yesterday. that sure as shit didn't happen!! i am like the queen of naps on the weekend, and i just couldn't get comfortable and fall asleep!! that's all right cause i did get to go out to dinner and a movie with kae yesterday. we saw "the holiday" which was a lot better than i thought it was going to be. i'm not the biggest cameron diaz fan, but she does an okay job. i was really excited with kate winslet's performance because i felt like her character was a lot like me. you'll have to see the movie to understand.

kae is the best cause she gave me a hella cute present for christmas!! i got a bunch of little candy canes, like a pound of my favorite big square marshamellows, and hot chocolate mix!! i am in heaven!! i can't wait to get a few things out of the way today and really get to enjoy that tonight. horray!!

i guess that is enough of an update for now. i love how i can use my blog to blog about what i've been up to, and a journal for what i've been feeling. it's great to not have to be emo to the world via the internet. hee hee!!

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
But it don't snow here
It stays pretty green
I'm going to make a lot of money
Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I made my baby cry

He tried hard to help me
You know, he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty
Made me weak in the knees
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad
Now I've gone and lost the best baby
That I ever had
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I made my baby say goodbye

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
(river, sarah mclachlan)

i bought the christmas cd at starbucks because the ones in the previous years have been pretty fun, solid collections. i have had this song (the first song on the cd, so i haven't really listened to the others yet!!) on repeat for the past few days. it's sung in such a sad, yet calm voice and i love to attempt to sing along in my car. hee hee!! it sort of stinks because it reminds me that i have no guy to love me on christmas. oh well. maybe if i'm a good netties, it will happen next year.

this week has been super fast for me. work just flies by, and i'm having the greatest time. i'm learning a lot about my job, and trying to take on a bit to show that i'm badass. but you all know the truth. ;) giggles!! the people in my group are the coolest, and i'm so blessed to have this opportunity. on that note, i'm also a bit tired cause i worked kinda late last night getting things organized, and i'm totally pooped. i should probably hit the hay cause i feel like i have a million things i want to do. i've got to buy some presents for my mom, from my dad, clean my room, go to michelle's baby shower on sat, sharks game with erik that night, and baking with the roomies on sunday. i swear, there is no rest for the wicked.

Oh, they had a little party down in Newport;
There was Harry, there was Mary, there was Grace.
Oh, they had a little party down in Newport,
And they had to carry Harry from the place.
(cal drinking song)

my goodness...what a long and tiring day!! having a big game at noon seems to be too early for football for me, but i was still in berkeley cheering my bears on to victory!! it wasn't a pretty win, but still a very typical big game in that you never know what's going to happen.

i got to finally take my pic with oski!! i've wanted to do that since i was a little girl, and i was sooo happy and shy when i got the opportunity to. the funny thing is that this person in the costume now is younger than me, but i still got caught up in it being oski. i am such a nut.

the game itself was pretty fast and very crazy. i'm super happy that cal won. after, i sort of marched around with my fam who was marching alongside the band. i was not expecting to do so much walking and my pooooor feeties/ankles are killing me!! thank goodness for advil. i'm sure i'll be feeling the brunt of it tomorrow. :(

but for the most part, i had a great time running into the million lair people, enjoying the big game spirit, and enjoying my first weekend off from my new job. i will give you all a personal update on what's going on since there's a pretty strict blogging policy at work. i don't know exactly what i'm allowed to blog about, although it would probably just be all the benefits. those are what keep me happy. anyway, time to elevate mah ankles!! night!!

waaaa waaaaaaa waaaaaaaaa

you know you need to get out more when your license plate frame reads: the only good ogre is a dead ogre.

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

i am so annoyed with girls who think they are geniuses but have no idea how to spell or use proper grammar. i am very guilty of being a bad speller, but i at least can see when a word is wrong and fix it. and yes i am guilty of using way the eff too many commas in a sentence, but DAMN. it's always people who call themselves smart or intelligent or some other bullshit word. i GUESS.

i don't know why i'm so bothered by this crap at this moment in time, but i guess i need to just get it out. if you have to write about how smart you think you are, i'm just going to laugh. hehehehehehehehe!!

on another note, i am so very happy to be working at teh google right now. i have about a million cool things i want to say, but i sort of don't want to share them here. if i love you, i'll let you know about the awesome shit that you haven't heard of until now. ha-HA!!

I really can't stay
(but baby it's cold outside)
I've got to go 'way
(but baby it's cold outside)
This evening has been so very nice
(I'll hold your hands there just like ice)

My Mother will start to worry!
(beautiful what's your hurry?)
And Father will be pacing the floor
(listen to that fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry!
(beautiful please don't hurry)
Well maybe just a half a drink more
(puts some records on while I pour)

The neighbors might think
(baby it's bad out there)
Say, what's in this drink?
(no cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how to break the spell
(your eyes are like starlight now)
I'll take you hat your hair looks swell
(baby it's cold outside, bing crosby)

i have been a big fan of philosophy products for quite some time, and lurve adding new scents and lotions to my mix of fun girly things. i was all about amazing grace last year, and totally loving cinnamon buns this year!! it is sooo good that i pick one scent at a time or i might get a bit overwhelmed. hee hee!!

the body wash and body souffle are beyond yummy. i smell slightly of cinnamon and very sweet...kinda like frosting. i'ma eat myself up right now. lick, lick.

i hope i still smell this good when i walk into work for the first time tomorrow!! i don't even think i'm going to meet my group right away!! it's seriously like orientation and training all week. that's okay, i get to be a google gol and i could not be happier!!

You and I could quit this scene
Build a town and then secede
Like an Adam and an Eve

'Cause to the dreamers go the dreams
But the leaders have the lead
It's a frightening, frightening thing

Born to the land of opportunity
Of manifest destiny
Do you want to change your mind?
You can always change your mind.
(manifest destiny, guster)

kiddies...the moment you have all been waiting for. the time has almost come...

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex and checks,
Sign your x on the line
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight

Come and trim my chirstmas tree,
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's
I really do believe in you,
Let's see if you believe in me

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing, a ring,
I don't mean on the phone,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
(santa baby, marilyn monroe)

there are so many things that make me incredibly happy. right now, i have a bright pink thermal shirt on with comfy sweats. i loooove feeling cozy and surrounding myself with my favorite color!! there are so many little things that i try to do every day to make me super smiley and bouncey. :)

december is probably my favorite month because there are so many fun things that i don't always get to do during other months. here's a list of what i love!!

*decorating the house
anyone who does this before thanksgiving is just sick in the head!! it is such a chore to get all of the boxes and bins at my parents house down from the top of the garage. they're all dusty from sitting there for a year, but there is oh so much fun inside!! i love getting lights out, putting up wreaths i made when i was 6...just all of it!!

*lights outside
okay, so when i was 5, my daddy asked me if there was any sort of special pattern i wanted to do with the outside lights. this was waaaay back in 1985, so there was really only one set of outside lights unlike today. yeah, those hecka big bulbs. my daddy traded some with the guy across the stree who wanted all white. so we had tons of colors, but no real order. and of course since i was 5, i wanted them in rainbow order!!! my daddy is so awesome that he actually did it, and has kept it that way ever since. so it goes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and we have one violet light!! i don't think that they made violet lights back then, but i remember putting it at the end, because it completed the rainbow!! it worked still as of last year, and i'm going to be so sad whenever it goes out!! the hilarious thing now is that friends tease me when they come over to my house and ask if it's the "gay" house cause of the rainbow. when i tell them the story, they usually say, "awwwwwww!!" can you imagine the netties at 5 with those big coke-bottle glasses, screwing in rainbow light bulbs!! i still remember it and i was soooo happy!!

*decorating the tree
this one is a no brainer. i looooove putting my ornaments on the tree. i have so many now that i could probably put all of mine on my parents 10' tree!! i am actually thinking of getting a pink tree and decorating it with my girlie ornaments since i have so many. how much fun would that be?? okay, maybe only to me. :)

*hot chocolate
i love how you can either make it all the time, or go out and get it. i love that it's available everywhere and people seem to smile as they make it. it's heaven!!

*ice skating outside
all right, so i know that most places in cali aren't cold enough to have real ice outside, but we can still make crappy ice skating rinks outside, right?? RIGHT?? although it hurts my ankles like woah, i still love to go out and skate a bit.

*full stockings
i don't even get excited about the candy, since i usually give most of it away, but i loooove the fun treats that santa always gets me!! there's always some sort of exotic candy, along with my favorites like gummy cherries or super sour stuff. and, i still get excited when i see tangerines!! i love the fun treats like new nail polish colors or tons of mac makeup. my santa is the best!!

*fires
all right, so they're not so good for the enviornment which means we can only do them a few times a year at my house, but i love them so very much!! i love how warm and cozy the rooms feels, and how you don't want to leave. i love how you can take half-naps in front of them. and, i love how you can just gaze into it and feel totally at peace. which of course leads me to change into jammies or sweats right after work, and cuddle up with a blanket and a book!!

*present hunting
i seriously LOOOOVE getting presents for people. i sometimes forget that people are getting them for me because all of my energy is spent on how happy i think the person is that is going to get this cool gift!! i am sort of the personal shopper for my dad which i just love. i get to hear what she likes or i at least LISTEN to what she likes. heeheheheheh!! and, i know when she loves something...she doesn't have to say a thing. i am the worst when it comes to waiting for people to open things, though. if i had my way, i'd let everyone open things the moment i bought them!!

all right, that's it for now. here's your moment of zen:
"Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others." -Audrey Hepburn

here are two comics that made me giggle today!!

the first is one of my all time favorite comics, pearls before swine. it wasn't in today's paper, but back from earlier this month. i believe that stephan pastis is a cal alum. well, he has to be if he's putting this in his strip!! anyway, i wanted to share it. and it's totally "stolen" from comics.com. ;)

and crapdideecrapcrap. the one today from family circus was a giggle-fest for me. i can't seem to find a link anywhere with a current comic so you'll just have to wait, or check your local papers. grrrrrr. it was funny cause of tomorrow being thanksgiving and had to do with where i'll be starting my new job on monday. horray!!

ah yes, it's that time of the year!! thanksgiving is almost upon us and it's red cup time at starbucks!! WOOHOO!! i honestly can't remember when this tradition at starbucks started. i don't know if it's semi-recent or something that's always happened as long as there's been a starbucks in fremont. i do remember being so excited when there was one within driving distance from irv-town. horray for an open campus!! but really...it's one of those things that now triggers my brain that it's getting close to one of my favorite months of the year. i loooooove december and christmas!!

yesterday was a fun adventure out to sf to check out the new shopping center and bloomies. my ankles are juuuuust killing me, though!! we did a ton of walking and that combined with the slight cool/damp mornings is not making my feet too happy!! i'm glad i had a chance to be a bit of a bum today. :) i was very productive, but i tried not to do too much walking.

i did go out to safeway for a bit, and i swear, i still think i'm in van when i walk in. it's soooo spooky how all the stores look the same now. everything's in the same place which is great for shoppers!! i just feel odd like i've somehow teleported myself from cali to canada. i'll get over it soon, i swear!!

tomorrow is thanksgiving, and i'm excited to get together with part of my family for the day. thanksgiving means a bit more to me than the average person (imho) because on my dad's side, i'm related to myles standish. he was the captain of the mayflower, yo!! i always try to set aside a bit of time to think about what it might have been like to come over to america and start over. thanksgiving is such a perfect time to reflect about that and (obviously!!) what you are thankful for. i just love traditions, and can't wait for tomorrow. happy turkey day!!

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

polar bear butts are soooo cute.

i get to go shopping in sf today with my mom and granny and i'm sooo excited!! we used to go to the city with my bro and check out all of the holiday stuff when we were little. it's going to be so fun to do it now that i'm all grown up. sort of. bloomies, here i come!! :)

Thursday, November 16, 2006

i am sooo tired and worn out, but i must get a quick post in today!! tomorrow is my last day of work at ccc, and then i'm off to mountain view!! horray!! i've been training someone for the last few days which has been fantastic because i feel very confident in this woman who's taking over for me. on the same note, i am usually swamped with work and put in lots of extra hours on normal weeks; you can imagine how it has been piling up these last few!! that, and the fact that i'm bloated and cranky sort of helps to explain why this post sucks so bad already.

all i want to do is mention that my blog is four years old today!! yippee!! happy birthday to mah blooooog!! :) i can't believe i've kept this going for that long. i actually didn't want to start one because i thought i was getting in a little late in the game. for me, it's fun to post updates, weird stories in the news, pictures, etc. it sure as heck entertains me!!

horray for being four!!

I saw it written and I saw it say
Pink moon is on its way
And none of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
It's a pink moon
It's a pink, pink, pink, pink, pink moon.
(pink moon, nick drake)

horray for me...i got a new job!! :) it took about 3 months of meeting with 3 different groups to interview. yes, i learned a bit of patience through this whole process!! i wanted to post this back when i learned that i had the job and given my two weeks notice, but my current employer didn't want anyone else to know. he tried to keep me there by matching my new salary, but since i will be getting so many benefits with this new job, he needed to have gone a lot higher. also, at this point, a 38% raise just shows how much i should have been worth SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. that's a bit frustrating.

i only have one more week working at my current job, and then i start my new one!! i'm so happy!! and i don't want to exactly come out and say where i'm working, but if you see the post below, there's a pretty cute graphic. yeah, i get to work there!!!

i'm so ready to work for a company like this where i can prace around and be little miss sunshine all day. i've always wanted to work for a place like this where i give so much, and they give a lot back. it's going to feel a little weird at first, but i'm sure i'll get over it.

i did a bit of shopping yesterday to sort of update my look, and i had so much fun!! probably only because i went super early and there weren't a lot of people at the mall yet. i really dispise shopping when there are a lot of other people around. everyone seems to get incredibly impatient, rude, and smelly. you can see why i hate shopping in december!!

but yes, i got a few pairs of jeans for $30 at a+f. i was super excited because those puppies are usually pretty expensive. i also found a few pairs of cute and not cheap looking work pants at old navy. they look almost exactly like some i found at guess, but they're $70 cheaper. oh, and i have to tell you about how my mom taught me to shop. so say we're just "saved" $70 by buying pants at another store. that's $70 extra bucks you have to spend!! woohoo!! i got a couple of skirts, super cute tops, and jewelry. such a successful day!! :)

today is going to be pretty chill for me. i'm going to continue making the manual for my current job. that way, if they haven't hired anyone by the time i have to go, they can go inside, and do it themselves!! no excuses!! also, i want to do a bit of reading at some point so i can put my ankles up. i swear, they hate the "cold" weather. i know it's not that cold outside, but they get pretty painful when it dips below 60. yikes. i don't want to ice them, because then it makes my whole body cold. hence the reading...taking my mind off of it for a bit seems to help. horray for distractions!!

happy halloween!!

check out google...pretty in halloween decorations as usual.

i hope everyone can enjoy tonight, even though it's hard to party in the middle of the week. i'm excited to do the usual hanging out, dressing up (as rainbow brite!!), and answering the door for the cute trick or treaters. i made halloween cuppicakes last night (some have chocolate cat peeps and some have ghostie peeps in the top!!) and have the simpsons halloween dvds ready to go for tonight.

and, for your moment of zen, please enjoy this adorable drawing from one of my favorite artists!! zooooommmmbeeeeeehhhhzzzzz!!

this ghoul is GOL. hee hee!!

"Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustable well. Yet everything happens a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even concieve of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless." - Brandon Lee during his final interview

all right kiddies, it's time for a little trip down memory lane. as a few of you might know, the crow is one of my top 10 favorite movies. i remember knowing it was coming out, and i couldn't wait for a comic book to come to screen before my eyes. that, and the whole hoopla about brandon lee passing away while making it. i actually remember taking my dad to see it for father's day at the super saver theatre in freakmont. i just haaaaad to see it one more time on the big screen. random!! it's such a great mix of darkness which i think the original story has, and sarcastic one liners like any good comic book.

every devil's night, i watch it. it's pretty cool to only watch it once a year, and on the day the movie takes place. i just finished this years viewing and made it through without any tears. i usually get chocked up at the end when he and shelly are together again. le sigh.

i think the first halloween after the movie came out, i decided to be eric draven. i was like 13 or 14 and so pumped. i remember i was walking down one street when i saw another guy dressed up like the crow walk past me. he was an adult, and dressed EXACTLY like the movie. he did a cute bow to me, and walked away. i always thought it might have been brandon lee.

in preparation for today, i listened to the soundtrack on my way to and from work. that might be the first soundtrack i ever purchased, come to think of it. it's so tight with the cure, henry rollins, and rage against the machine. only about half of the songs are good, but it's a great listen. :)

i think this movie sort of helped grow the idea in my crazy head that no matter what, true love will prevail. hold your special someone close tonight and don't ever give up a chance to tell them how much they mean to you. xoxoxo.

Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
(yesterday, the beatles)

hee hee, so i forgot to mention my funny story from friday. i wore my super cool CANADA track jacket to work because i am that awesome. i guess it looks like i'm officially canadian or something an olympian would wear because someone asked me about it. this guy walking next to me said, "what team are you on?" why oh why did i allow myself to reply, but i told him, "the cuddling team." he nodded and kept on walking, maybe thinking i said curling.

wow, why do i say such random things?? so yeah, i'm officially on the canadian cuddling team. cause, you know, it's cold in canadia-land. what else are you going to do up there?? :)

Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
or a beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
it may be empty
or weightless and maybe
we'll find some peace tonight

You're in the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
(angel, sarah mclachlan)

when i was about 13, i thought i saw an angel in a cemetery. i remember i only saw her for a moment. i did a double take when my brain registered what i saw. when i turned around, she was gone. she was totally white, and in this same position.

i still wonder if she were real. and what would be so sad that would cause her to cry like that. i thought that she should be happy because that person is now in heaven with her.
Couldn't take the blame.
Sick with shame.
Must be exhausting to lose your own game.
Selfishly hated,
No wonder you're jaded.
You can't play the victim this time,
And you're too late.

Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

You never call me when you're sober.
(call me when you're sober, evanescence)

i keep hearing this song on the radio, and thank goodness not in a bad way. the more i hear it, the more i sing it and just plain rock out. i finally google'd the band and found out amy lee is younger than me!! holy shit...i thought she was like 29 or 30. their stock just went up a little higher in my book.

i love how he's looking into her eyes and holding her. this is so breathtaking!!

oh yeah, it's a painting from a brothel in pompeii.
You've got your ball,
You've got your chain
Tied to me tight, tie me up again.
Who's got their claws
In you my friend?
Into your heart I'll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock,
And sweet you roll
Lost for you, I'm so lost for you

Oh, and you come crash into me
(crash into me, dave matthews band)

soooooo, speaking of crashes, i almost got into a huge one driving home today. there was a ton of traffic on 880, as there always is, and we were finally speeding up a bit. the car in front of me was going about 50, and i started doing that as well. all of a sudden, they slammed on their brakes, but veered off into the two right lanes because they were going to hit the car in front of them. all i see is that car going nuts, and all of a sudden a car in front of me!! i'm totally gonna hit it, so i slam on my brakes as fast as i can. um, can we say thank goodness that i just got my brakes fixed this weekend?? i was so grumpy about paying for things for my car, but now i see why i should be happy.

oh yes, so i'm about to hit the car in front of me when my car starts pulling to the right a bit. i'm trying not to go into the next lane, but i'm somehow forced to. in doing so, i miss the car in front of me, but now i'm in a new lane and i don't know if i'm going to hit anyone there!! it's the carpool lane, and not too many cars had driven by in a while. luckily the guy in the carpool lane had tons of room on the shoulder, and pulled over there as i sort of merged into that lane. i was pretty amazed that nobody else got hit in front or behind me. which makes me wonder...would i have been at fault for hitting that car even though the car in front of me jacked me up?? i wasn't too close to them, but them slamming on their brakes and going into two other lanes of traffic sure means they weren't paying attention. wow, i'm so thankful that nobody was hit or hurt, and especially for the driver in the carpool lane who saw what was going on. i owe you a beer, buddy!! :)
i'm not sure i have the words to describe how cute this is. i think there should be unicorns prancing around on clouds as hearts float through the air or something.

Here comes the sun,
here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
(here comes the sun, george harrison)

it is another beautiful and sunny day in the bay area today. no doubt that this is the most amazing place in the world to live.

i love that i have another weekend of enjoying the pool and soaking up some rays, yet still enjoying crisp fall weather soon.

i hope to enjoy this day by reading, swimming, reading, painting my toenails, reading, and going for a walk. i love my life, and so happy i can enjoy a whole day to myself.

because i hate it when sports writers are wrong...

my mom showed me an article in the sports section of the argus today, and i really had to laugh out loud. some writer basically said that stanford football isn't winning because they are an academic school. excuse me?? it's not like they've never been to a bowl game, stat boy.

i had to reply...and i did via email back to the paper. see below. (i had a limit of 100 words, or i really would have made about 400 other points. promise.)

Art Spander's article on how Stanford is "an academic institution, not an athletic factory" on Sunday, October 15, 2006 was laughable. As a true blue Cal fan, it pains me to point out that Stanford has won 12 consecutive Directors' Cup titles. The Directors' Cup is awarded to the school with the top overall athletic program.

Stanford football may not be winning games, but don't forget where Cal was during the 2001 season: 1-10. It's quite obvious that Stanford is going through a drought, and the blame does not need to be placed on such an erroneous generalization.

p.s. it was really hard not to type stanFUrd each time, but i was a good girl. :)

If I had a million dollars we wouldn't have to walk to the store
If I had a million dollars we'd take a limousine 'cause it costs more
If I had a million dollars we wouldn't have to eat Kraft dinner
"But we would eat Kraft dinner."
"Of course we would, we'd just eat more."
"And buy really expensive ketchups with it."
"That's right, all the fanciest Dijon ketchups."

If I had a million dollars (If I had a million dollars)
Well I'd buy you a green dress (but not a real green dress that's cruel)
And if I had a million dollars (If I had a million dollars)
Well I'd buy you some art (A Picasso or a Garfunkel)
And if I had a million dollars (If I had a million dollars)
Well I'd buy you a monkey (haven't you always wanted a monkey?!)
And if I had a million dollars I'd buy your love
(if i had $1000000, barenaked ladies)

okay, just so everyone knows, i am moving to los gatos. with of course, my rich husband and we can make lots of babies. of course this may never happen, but it's now my new dream. :)

i got to visit the beautiful katy at her lovely parents house in los gatos. driving there, my mouth was open, just completely in shock at how pretty these houses were!! they were in the foothills with lots of land, and totally adorable. sigh.

we hung out for a bit, and she took me to a really yummy italian place downtown. my chicken artichoke was to die for!! mmmmmmmm!! a friend of hers said hi to us as he walked in, and then sat with another guy. after our meal, katy and i said hi to them, but right before we did she said, "oh yeah, this other guy is the qb for stanFUrd." i thought she was kidding, and we went over and chatted for a bit. i didn't remember what the qb looked like without his helmet on, so i decided not to say anything in case i didn't hear her right. turns out when i searched for him online after, it totally was. hee hee!! i prolly wouldn't have said anything mean, anyway. it's not his fault he doesn't have anyone to throw it to. he's just like favre this season.

after dinner, katy showed me around downtown a bit. the big, old trees all had white lights in them, and the streets were full of cute botiques and small restaurants. we walked by a candy store (that was still open at 9:30) and i pretty much had a heart attack. it was just like the saying, "like a kid in a candy shop." i went NUTS!! they had these really hard to find treats!! stuff they sell in england, belguim, canada, only in the northwest US...you name it, they had it!! well, except for dr. pepper gum, but i think they don't make that anymore. it was great to find all these amazing treats that i had enjoyed as a small child. i got a lot of things for halloween fun bags, too!!

so yes, in short, i had a great time with katy and i hope we can hang out again soon!! also, i am in <3 with los gatos. sigh.

shadows play
twilight souls
anguished ways
lost adrift
severed seas
i await you
come to me
(the bazaar, the tea party)

the sharkies are playing right now and i'm soooo happy!! they introduced all the players playing tonight at the tank, and erik and i were so pumped to see vlasic!! we saw him against van, and loved calling him pickle boy. you can imagine my excitement when i saw him playing tonight, and at the tender age of 19!! the only way to make that any cooler was seeing which number he was wearing. yes, sucka...44!!

Oh it won't rain all the time
The sky won't fall forever.
And though the night seems long,
your tears won't fall forever.
(it can't rain all the time, jane siberry)

i was checking the weather today, and there was an EXTREME WEATHER ALERT!! OMGZ!!

FIRST MEASURABLE RAIN EVENT OF THE SEASON EXPECTED LATE TONIGHT
THROUGH THURSDAY...

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LOCATED ALONG 130W WILL DEVELOP A CUT OFF LOW
OFF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST TONIGHT. THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING
UNSEASONABLY COOL AND WET WEATHER TO THE SAN FRANCISCO AND MONTEREY
BAY AREAS TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY. RAIN CHANCES WILL BEGIN LATE
TONIGHT OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA...AND WILL INCREASE AND SPREAD
SOUTHWARD ON WEDNESDAY AS THE LOW APPROACHES THE COAST. THE BEST
CHANCE OF RAIN IS FROM LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY
NIGHT. SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO LINGER INTO THURSDAY AND POSSIBLY INTO
THURSDAY EVENING AS WELL. THIS WEATHER SYSTEM ALSO HAS THE POTENTIAL
OF PRODUCING ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE REGION...PARTICULARLY
ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND WEDNESDAY EVENING.

blah blah blah, i took a bunch of crap out

IF THUNDER IS HEARD...SEEK SHELTER INDOORS OR INSIDE A VEHICLE.
LIGHTNING KILLS MORE PEOPLE EACH YEAR THAN HURRICANES AND TORNADOES.

oh holy crap!! lightning lightning lightning!! i said it three times so it's true!! hee hee!! i really hope we have some today or tomorrow. but i hope it doesn't kill anyone. i had no idea it killed so many people!! stay indoors and grab your favorite stuffed animal!! ahhhhhhhh!!

She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there
(you shook me all night long, ac/dc)

which reminds me of a simpsons joke:
otto: hey lisa, how do you spell: ac/dc?
lisa: a-c-d-c.
otto: naw man, you forgot the lightning bolt.

i just came back from crazy-time at safeway. if you shop at the one next to 5 corners, you know what i'm talking about. they've been remodeling for what feels like years, but i'm sure is at least in its second month. the first thing i noticed since the major changes have now been completed is that it looks just like the one i shopped at in vancouver!! the cashier randomly told me that they're all supposed to be universal now. so you can walk in one in canada, and know which aisle the cupcake mix will be on. fantastique!!

and since i'm being totally random in this post, i noticed that i'm more forgiving than i thought i was. i actually will go out of my way to be really nice to people who have wronged me and i think this has been going on for quite some time!! this does not apply to assholes who cut me off when there's nobody behind me. i usually grumble mean things under my breath and then forget about it. hee hee!! :)

Sunday, October 01, 2006

i am turning into such the selfish baby...but this is what i really want right now. and damn it, it's my blog so i can say whatever i want!!

*someone to tell me everything will be okay
*someone who will give me a hug and a backrub
*someone to make me a cup of tea and cuddle with me for a bit

gah, i'm incredibly tired and drained and i need someone to take care of me!! :(
Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

You never call me when you're sober.
You only want it cause it's over,
It's over.
(call me when you're sober, evanescence)

i heard the above song for the first time a week or two. i remember first thinking, "you never get calls when this guy is sober?? how much does that suck??" anyway, it's such a great song to sing in the car...when the radio can drown me out, of course. i have no idea why i like singing it so much. maybe it's because the melody is so powerful. i sure haven't had much experience with someone not calling me when they're sober, though. i have had someone only tell me his true feelings when he was drunk, but that's a whole other nightmare.

for some reason, i am really looking forward to fall!! i usually hate fall since it signals the end of pool use, cute skirts and flip flops...some of my favorite things. but i do love the cloudy mornings, crisp air, and halloween!! unfort, my ankles are already starting to feel this colder weather and are a bit sore. nothing too painful, but enough to notice!! i'll just have to try to keep them extra warm this time around.

well, i've got a shitload of work to do, and i'm not too happy about it!! it's a beautiful day and i'd much rather be doing things i enjoy. hopefully i can get most of this done now so i can maybe get some reading done tonight. maybe some coffee will get this girl going today. :)

And everytime I've always known
That you were there, upon your throne
A lonely queen without her king
I longed for you, my love forever

All of my life
Where have you been?
I wonder if I'll ever see you again
(again, lenny kravitz)

ginormous turtles have invaded!! and they eat jellyfishies?? omgz, i love them so very much!! *hugs*

if there was a contest for horrible poetry, i'm sure i'd be the champion. it's like that piece mad magazine would do once in a while. "you're a winner AND a loser if..." hahahahahahah!! but you know what, writing bad poetry is incredibly theraputic for me and it gives me a great belly laugh when i read over it. i'm so happy that i can amuse myself all day long.

on that silly note, a very happy birthday to google!! 8 years old...wow...our little baby is growing up so fast!! hahahahahahha!!

i just like how there's a cuppicake there!! with sprinkles!! horray!!

p.s. super fun cal game on saturday even though i felt like shit. go bears!!
Beauty that
we left behind
how shall we
tomorrow find

Set aside
our weight in sin
so that we
can live again

When my legs no longer carry
and the warm wind chills my bones
I reach for Mother Mary
and I shall not walk alone
(i shall not walk alone, ben harper)

so i had a dream that somebody was killing someone in my house. and nobody there could see me, but i was somehow a witness to it all. and it was my old house, before we added the second story. all the furniture, rugs, ect looked like it was from the early 60's but the woman killing and the woman dying were talking like it was the 50's. it was weird how i was just sort of floating, watching this all happen, but not able to stop anything. of course i woke up RIGHT when my alarm was about to go off, so it's been on my mind all morning!! ahhhhhhhh...that's such a weird dream to have!!

after just a little bit of searching about dreams, and murder, this is what i found: To dream that you witness a murder, indicates deep-seated anger towards somebody. Consider how the victim represents aspects of yourself that you want to destroy or eliminate.

okay, let's change the subject cause that dream was horrible and freaky, and i can't wait to dream about donuts and silly shit again. the only other thing new today is that the sunset was beautiful!! it was a super big, pink sun just chillin as it rose. i hope that i can focus on that and a lot of little things and get over my "anger" or what i need to "destroy or eliminate." how about everyone that's mean?? hee hee!!

time for a sharkies update...courtesy of moi!! hee hee!! as you last read, erik and i had tickets to see the sharks play the canucks (horray!!) on thursday. once we got there, a scalper was shouting out, "upgrade your tickets...second row." and i replied with, "nope, first row." he again said, "second row" and i said, "we're in the first row...DOWNGRADE!!" hhahaahahhahaah...okay it's not that funny now, but it was hilarous at the time.

luckily we got there early, so i had time to check out the new stuff in the store. they have the sharks scarf again!! thank goodness cause last year, they had it when i was in van, then they ran out!! you better believe i snagged that, a pink sharks hat, and a beanie!! awwww yeah!!

since our tickets were so awesome, we had club access which isn't that big of a deal to me. i still got nachos and a beer. you can't take that away from me, ever!!

there was a very funny looking penalty box official guy (what ARE their official titles??) who walked by several times on the ice. lucklily the last time he walked by, erik got a pic of him, with my head next to him. he has this great old-timey mustache. sort of like rollie fingers, but better. i'll have to get erik to post it soon. :) speaking of officials, they only had one ref at first, then someone magoo appeared out of nowhere.

i sang the canadian national anthem so loud at the beginning of the game. i always feel bad for the hockey players when they've got to sing to TWO national anthems. it looks like they just want to get the game going!!

our seats were on the right side of the penalty box, sort of right in front of the face off circle on that bottom side of the ice. it was cool to see the canucks warming up, and look at all of these new faces. they had two really REALLY short players, and i can only remember one of the names, reid. he honestly couldn't have been more than 5'5'' and looked very young. he did try really hard when he played, though!!

and of course since we were so close to the glass, we got to jump and act crazy when there was a great hit in front of us. there were several, and one 1/2 one attempted by cheech. it was a partial cheech-check...hahahahahah!! but it's so odd to see the angry faces, knowing someone's going to get hit about one foot in front of you and not flinch when it happens. i didn't kiss the glass when he skated by...i was a good girl. i did give him several shoutouts and a few, "horrays!!" :)

there was a hat trick by milan, and i wasn't wearing a hat, so i had nothing to throw. there weren't too many thrown on the ice, and i wasn't about to throw my new pink one on the ice just for shits and giggles. saaaawwwwwrrry!! the other goal that night was scored by cheech, horray!!, so of course i was happy. the only part i was a little bummed about was that they stopped playing, "rock and roll pt. 2" by gary glitter for each goal scored. they played something else that you couldn't figure out what it was, but the signs all said, "hey!" and hella people were confused. i read that they are trying out new songs and seeing what people like. i still think gary glitter should be played because i'll always associate that with a sharkies goal.

so yeah, that was my first sharkies game of this season (albeit pre-season) but it was totally worth paying a butt-load for front row seats. i'll have to do it again maybe later in the season or next year since it does put a bit of a damper in your pocket. :) but yes, fun was had and the overall experience was a big, "HORRAY!!" :)

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
The blackest of rooms

If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark
(i'll follow you into the dark, death cab for cutie)

quick update with me while i have a minute here at work!! my silly wrists are sooo sore from scooping and chomping up ice cream at coldstone the other night. some of the ice cream was easy to scoop, and some was super tough and totally frozen!! i was volunteering for the local elementary school and of course had no idea how to make any of those "creations" things!! i had fun though. pretty much all the orders for pints and other stuff to go came through me so i was the scoopin queen. yeeeee-haw. oh wait, i guess that's what a scoopin cowgirl would say. horray!! :)

seeing this made me so mad that i didn't even read the whole article. i don't care what you are for or against, but do not disrupt traffic!! even if you're for glitter, unicorn giggles, and hearts, go complain to someone who isn't!! i wasn't involved in this, but you better believe i would be TICKED off if i had. go make bush late for something...not a bunch of liberals. way to think that out.

on a final and fun note, I'M GOING TO THE SHARKS GAME TONIGHT!!!! not only am i so fucking excited for the season starting up, but i have tickets to my favorite and second favorite teams!! AND...i'm sitting in the first row. i wish it was for a playoff game instead cause there would be more hitting and checking, but i'm still gonna pound on the glass!! and leave lipgloss marks from making out all over it when cheechoo skates by. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

it has begun...

the madness of WoW has finally reached my compy!! ahhhhhhhh...make it stop!!!

much thanks (i think!!) to bean for getting me setup, ready to go, and helping me pass level one. omgz, soooo much geeky excitment. i don't know what do to with myself!!
as everyone knows, i am a packers fan. i get a lot of crap for it, especially since people assume it's only because i want to make out with brett favre. hey, he's not hard on the eyes, but he's got other things i enjoy about him too!! i promise!!

i was mainly a packers fan because ryan longwell was on the team. when he was traded to the vikings a few months ago, i was in denial for a bit. i've yet to watch any minnesota games (really, they're the rivals of the packers!!) but i still cheer for my boy, longwell!!

now i don't claim to know the whole story of why he left the packers. maybe he hated it there, maybe his contract expired, maybe someone wanted a new kicker there. i honestly don't know. if it was someone just sort of trading to get him out of there, i hope you have nightmares about this:

oh, and green bay lost by a touchdown yesterday?? too bad you didn't have good ol' number eight throwin for ya.

and, on a slightly related note, i just want to point out that brett favre is number 4!!! everytime i wear my longwell jersey, someone makes a stupid comment about favre. you are the loser for not knowing!! just like the guy at noah's who argued with me about cal losing last weekend. don't argue with me cause you're not going to win!! muahahahahahahah. oh, okay. i'm all done!! *giggles!!*

Shake your money maker
Like somebody's bout to pay ya
Don't worry about them haters
Keep your nose up in the air

You know I got it
If you wanna come get it
Stand next to this money
Like - hey hey

Shake, shake, shake your money maker
Like you were shaking it for some paper
It took your momma 9 months to make ya
Might as well shake what your momma gave ya
You, you lookin good in them jeans
I bet you'd look even better with me in between
(money maker, ludacris feat. pharrel)

what a fun song for humpday. i loooove ludacris, and i will shake my money maker for him anytime!! hahahahah!! well, i'll shake it cause he has tight beats and fun lyrics.

i woke up this morning thinking someone was spooning me and playing with my hair. as i opened my eyes, i swear someone whispered, "good morning, sunshine" and as i turned over, of course nobody was there. gah, i hate when dreams are better than real life!! at least it put me in a fantastic mood for hump day. woohoo!!

Tuesday, September 12, 2006

first off, HA-HA to the redskins. so sorry you lost last night. thanks to ryan longwell for the late kick!! sort of makes up for that 51 yard nightmare earlier, huh?? i'll always root for you, numba 8...even if you end up on oakland. horray!!

on the subject of sports, i'd like to bring you another round of What Rules Jeannette Would Change If She Were In Charge!!!

okay, so i started writing a bit, and it all started sounding familiar. see my previous rant on 1.22.06 for round one. :)

sort of an add-on to the "i'm sorry notes" rule is if you get a horrible penalty, you're out for the game. no facemasks!! if you do that, you're done for the night. now i know there are incidental times where your hand sort of gets pushed in the helmet, and i'm not talking about that. i'm talking about the times when someone grabs it and brings you down. that is so lame and i don't want to see you any more for that game. also, if you headbutt anyone with your helmet, go hit the showers, kid. and, for the "i'm sorry notes" if you don't write a nice note, you won't be allowed back in the game. it has to be approved by me FIRST. bahahahahahaha!!

my other addition to MY rules is that i HATE how in the nfl a receiver will make an amazing catch, BUT his feet never touch the ground because someone pushes him out. that should not be called a fair catch. it should be fair that a player can push him out of bounds!! HELLO, you're all big boys in the nfl now. get your damn feet in or it's not a catch. or, have your qb throw it further down the field so you're able to run after you grab it/run out of bounds because time is wearing down. damn, i hate this rule!!

that's it with my sports rant, now time for my other rant. i'm sure many of you have seen that stupid commercial that starts with mr. cheesy mc cheeserson saying, "i'm thiiiiinking of a number..." and it's for freecreditreport.com. they tell you that you can get a free credit report if you log into your site. what's in the small print, of course, is the fact that you'll have to sign up for some shit to get your report. so is it free?? NO!! this is such a pet peeve of mine!!

how can you claim something is free, yet still be charging for it?? it's similar with those quick infomercials that state you have free shipping, but there's a $10.95 handling fee. holy crap, the person that "handles" your package must be a millionaire!! i don't understand how businesses can get away with it because it seems so sneaky. of course, i bet they don't care since most americans are stupid and can't be bothered reading the fine print. i just don't like how in some cases it's too small to read or it doesn't tell you that you have to sign up for something else. i'm not speaking from any personal experiences, but seeing crap like that just bugs me. i guess i wish i had thought about making tons of money off of slow people. grrrrrrrr!! ;)

Today, we gather to be reassured that God hears the lamenting and
bitter weeping of Mother America because so many of her children are
no more. Let us now seek that assurance in prayer for the healing of
our grief stricken hearts, for the souls and sacred memory of those
who have been lost. Let us also pray for divine wisdom as our leaders
consider the necessary actions for national security, wisdom of the
grace of God that as we act, we not become the evil we deplore.

-Rev. Nathan Baxter, Dean of Washington National Cathedral

driving to work this morning, i was listening to the radio which i normally don't do because i don't like the talkie-talk of morning shows and the tons of commercials. for some reason, i turned on 94.9 to get some crazy booty-shakin' song playing to get me ready for my week. instead, it was a tribute to 9/11.

i thought to myself, "oh, all right. i'll listen to juuuust a bit." i've been purposely not watching the news during the last few days, not listening to the radio, and trying not to read too many news sites because of the 9/11 overload. i think it's wonderful that so many people want to honor and remember the spirit of those lives lost, but there are millions of tributes and it's all people talk about. i get very overwhelmed with the hoopla, and want to deal with it in my own way. and silly me turns on the radio this morning...

dear lord, i have never heard such a sadder sound in my life. apparently i was listening to a walkie-talkie/radio feed from a woman firefighter/emt to her dispatcher. all of a sudden you could hear yelling and debris falling as she was speaking to him. he had no idea what was going on, and is trying to get her to give her location. between him frantically trying to get her back on the line and yelling at people to stay off that frequency, you can hear her moan as she tries to let him know where she is. it was horrible to hear this whole conversation play out, knowing what the outcome would be.

please take a moment to click here and remember those whose lives were lost 5 years ago.

i will be praying today for peace, leadership, grace, justice, and for those whose lives were lost. i hope you will join me.

after a two year absence, i got to see dave matthews band perform!! 0mgz w00h00, etc...hee hee!!

i think i've seen dmb every time they've come through norcal with the silly exception of last summer. stupid lair...grumble grumble. hee hee!! yeah, so i'm not like dmb superfans who have been to 40 shows, but enough of a fan that i can enjoy them once a year!!

dave totally turns me into someone else when he performs, and i find that to be just hilarious. he paints this amazing picture in my head of the perfect guy as he's singing and i just want to jump him. you know, to talk and stuff. ;)

his arms were covered by a sweatshirt last night, so i can't comment on how hot they made me, but every other part of him does. the passion that comes from within as he really gets into a song, those funny eyebrows moving back and forth, the way he looks into the crowd as if you are the only one there, his voice...wow. i need to write a book about this. let's just say if i found a man who could speak about love the way dave writes about it...i'd be a happy woman.

i took kae with me and i'm glad we did because we totally rocked out and were about to kick some booty when some dumb 17 year old showed up next to us. they were so annoying, but luckily they must have taken a tranquilizer because they mellowed out. NO DISTRACTIONS WHILE DAVE IS PLAYING, MMMMKAY??

so yes, i had the time of my life last night listening to dave and co. just rock the shoreline and i'll be dreaming sweet dreams of them until they return. horray!!

i am the distant star
burning brightly light years away.
all you can distinguish is a faint twinkle
because you're looking directly at me.
it's only when you glance away will you finally notice
how much i shine.

Once there was a way
to get back homeward
Once there was a way
to get back home
Sleep pretty darlin'
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullabye

Golden Slumbers fill your eyes.
Smiles await you when you rise

Sleep pretty darlin'
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullabye
(golden slumbers, ben folds five)

one thing that's great about losing weight is that you have to buy new clothes. when your jeans that used to be almost too tight on you can be pulled off with the button on, it's time to go shopping. oh lord, am i going to have fun today!!

Saturday, September 02, 2006

If I should stay
Well, I would only be in your way
And so I'll go, and yet I know
That I'll think of you each step of my way
And I will always love you
I will always love you
Bitter-sweet memories
That's all I have, and all I'm taking with me
Good-bye, oh, please don't cry
cause we both know that I'm not
What you need
(i will always love you, dolly parton)

it's incredibly insane for me to think that a year ago i was planning my trip to canada, finishing up the lair, and ready to really start my life with bean. here i am a year later, back in the bay, and almost out on my own. it's amazing to see how fast a year flies by. sigh.

Monday, August 28, 2006

i didn't watch the emmys on sunday, but from what i heard, there was a skit about the tv show LOST where conan was in a plane, it crashed, and acted out some scenes from the show.

then, you have people who take things a bit too seriously. yes, i understand there was a plane crash and people died that same morning. BUT, the sketch was for a tv show, and was not making fun of random plane crashes in general.

do you think those same people are offended by skits on SNL that are making fun of saddam or osama?? heaven forbid that we're allowed to laugh at anything that could be taken completely out of context. "so a man walks into a bar..." "wait, wait, stop the joke. i have a friend who's in a wheelchair. he can't walk." where do you draw the line?? it's not a dead baby joke for crying out loud. if there was ever a line, that could be it. :)

Now you can sell your soul
But you can't buy it back
I've spent my whole life
Working to give you everything you like

Now I wish you were here
So we could walk and talk
In the soft rain, in the soft rain
Now all that left of us
Is a picture sitting in a frame
(picture in a frame, ben harper)

classic friday night: vanilla gelato & sex and the city. perfecto. :)

Rene: What are you doing? You promised me breakfast.
Brodie: Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake. It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Rene, but Hartford, "the Whale," they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.

silly and fun quiz time. i seriously think i've done the last one before. oooooh well. :)

You Are Most Like Charlotte!

You are the ultimate romantic idealist
You've been hurt before, but that hasn't caused you to give up on love.
If anything, your resolve to fall in love is stronger than ever.
And it's this feminine optimism that men find most appealing about you.

Romantic prediction: That guy you are seeing (or crushing on)?

Could be very serious - if you play your cards right!

You Are a Plain Ole Cup of Joe

But don't think plain - instead think, uncomplicated
You're a low maintenance kind of girl... who can hang with the guys
Down to earth, easy going, and fun! Yup, that's you: the friend everyone invites.
And your dependable too. Both for a laugh and a sympathetic ear.

You Belong in Rome

You're a big city girl with a small town heart

what would YOU say for a cuppicake??

How come every time you come around
My London London Bridge wanna go down
Like London London London wanna go down
Like London London London be going down like

Drinks start pouring
My speech start slurring
Everybody start looking real good (Oh, shit)

The Grey Goose got your girl feeling loose
Now I wishing that I didn't wear these shoes (I hate heels)
(london bridge, fergie)

last night i went to the giants game with my auntie and had such a great time!! it was "irish heritage" night which meant they had guinness. hahahahaha, and random irish dancing girls, irish music between innings...stuff like that. oh, we did get greenish giants hats with clovers on them. sweet!!

i had never sat in the third deck at that stadium before. wow, i sound like a total snob, but i guess i've just been hooked up with sweet tickets before. the view of the bay was incredible and i loved having the sun set BEHIND us so we didn't have to worry about not being able to see anything for an inning or two!!

so lowry threw a shutout, bonds hit number 725 (booooo....hahahahahah!!), and i ate garlic fries and drank guinness!! all in all, it was a great night. they randomly showed steve young inbetween one of the innings, and most of the crowd gave him a standing ovation. it was really cute.

since it was irish heritage night or whatever, all these girlies were decked out in their ireland gear. i had my london irish/guinness rugby jersey on, so i guess i was part of that crowd too, but wow. some girls had these tiny TINY irish shirts on, and i'm just thinking, "first, you're like 300 pounds too big to be wearing that. please wear a bigger size!! and second...you're irish??" okaaaaay!! hahahahah. sorry, i don't want to sound totally rude, but it was like all these women had bought kids shirts or something. i guess i didn't get the memo. darn!!

i got home a little later than i thought i would, and still had stanky dragon breath after brushing my teefies for several minutes, but i had a great time!! i tend to like baseball more when i'm not following at super closely. i think it's because the season is too long and the games too slow for my taste. you just gotta work around it a bit to make it fun times. :)

I wish we could live forever
Then melt into the sun
Melt into the sun
Time is gonna change you
Once it gets you on the run
Gets you on the run

There will be
There will be
There will be a light
There will be a light
There will be
There will be
There will be a light
There will be a light
(there will be a light, ben harper)

wow, yesterday was such a great day!! it started with me doing a little "retail therapy" at magpie. that's the new lavendar bay, and man, is it dangerous!! thank goodness it's 30 miles away, and not 2!! i got so many fun girlie things like new lotions, candles, beautiful smelling french soaps, some pretty bangles, and a really cute set of dessert plates/coffee mugs. i want to drink coffee and eat yummy desserts all day cause they're so adorable!!

after that, it was time to see damien marley and ben harper!! aaron came to pick me up and i was so stoked that he wanted to drive. horray!! it's really nice having someone else drive, especially in a brand new car with super cool gps stuff!!

we grabbed some yummy hot dogs at top dog (obvi, we're in berkeley!!) and made our way to the greek. i was remembering that the last time i saw ben harper there i wasn't totally impressed. there were some good songs and fun moments, but it wasn't the best performance. luckily, ben must have remembered, because he put on a fantastic show.

damien marley opened and holy shit, he sounds just like his dad!! there was a great energy the whole time he performed and i honestly loved him a lot more than i thought i would. there was this crazy flag man who waved a flag and sort of marched/danced for the WHOLE hour damien performed. it was totally insane and that guy must have arms of steel. so random. also, i totally want to be one of his backup singers/dancers. those gals GOT DOWN and looked like they were having a great time.

and, there was so much pot, more than i've ever seen or smelled at a concert. trust me, i've been to several at the greek, and a million dave matthews band concerts, so i know my shit. i think aaron and i were the only ones not lighting up. of course everyone went crazy when ben harper sang, "burn one down." damn, i think people thought there was a revolution going on!! hee hee!!

ben harper started with radioactive (crazy beatbox!!) and sang "steal my kisses." that was my second favorite performance of the night. i couldn't believe this guy's beatbox talent, and it was such a fun colaboration with that song. my fav performance was when ben sang "there will be a light" and i almost cried. if he sang "my beloved one" after that, i would have bawled. i secretly thanked him for not singing my favorite song. this concert was soooo much better than when i saw him with jack johnson several years ago!!

the concert was longer than i thought, but we thankfully had enough time to drive to fenton's before they closed. i decided not to do a black and tan, and had a sando and an ice cream soda instead to. die. for. yum yum and yum. i got coke flavor with vanilla ice cream, and they made it perfectly. all the soda stuff in the glass and all the ice cream OVER the glass, not getting in the soda. damn, i know this sounds crazy, but that vanilla ice cream was sooooo heavenly. just vanilla, but it was perfect.

i am just super happy that we got there about 15 minutes before they closed. they actually sat some people down a few minutes before midnight and said, "if the rest of your party shows up after midnight, we will lock the doors on them." and they totally did!! yikes!! but yes, heaven!! the whole day was a fun-fest and i had a great time.

today is cleaning up my resume/making a coversheet, laundry, cleaning up day. time to clean up all the messes i made throughout the week and great ready for another possibly hot one here in the bay. horray for pools!! oh, and fresh fruit!! thankfully the farmer's market here still has incredible produce. sweet peaches, nectarines, raspberries, strawberries, cherries and much more!! it sounds like fruit salad extravaganza night!! :)

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I'd stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry
(sweet child 'o mine, guns and roses)

i never thought i'd say this, but kelly clarkson might be cooler than me.

oh, this looks soooo yummy!!

you can totally get this for me. i've been a good girl, i swear!! ;)

p.s. i like how it looks like it's hovering over the cuppicakes. awesome!!

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland
(baba o'riley, the who)

so first things first. cuppicakes are some of my favorite things in the world. i love to share them with friends and pass the love on!! here's a link to an article on them, and where to find them in the bay!! (although nobody makes funfetti ones. maybe i should open up my own shop!!)

there's a blog dedicated to the love of cuppicakes!! horray!! you should check it out, because the pictures will make you lick your compy screen. i know!! hee hee!! i think i'm even going to add them to my friends!! horray!!

when my parents were in seattle for a bit, i guess some reporter asked them a few questions. my mommy isn't in there, but she said she had the most to say. so there you go. ;)

and finally, i've added another link to my friends. i don't know who the person is, but the link is ttmygh. it's a pretty clever blog, great writing, and it keeps me entertained.

hugs for all!!
