I wish we could live forever
Then melt into the sun
Melt into the sun
Time is gonna change you
Once it gets you on the run
Gets you on the run

There will be
There will be
There will be a light
There will be a light
There will be
There will be
There will be a light
There will be a light
(there will be a light, ben harper)

wow, yesterday was such a great day!! it started with me doing a little "retail therapy" at magpie. that's the new lavendar bay, and man, is it dangerous!! thank goodness it's 30 miles away, and not 2!! i got so many fun girlie things like new lotions, candles, beautiful smelling french soaps, some pretty bangles, and a really cute set of dessert plates/coffee mugs. i want to drink coffee and eat yummy desserts all day cause they're so adorable!!

after that, it was time to see damien marley and ben harper!! aaron came to pick me up and i was so stoked that he wanted to drive. horray!! it's really nice having someone else drive, especially in a brand new car with super cool gps stuff!!

we grabbed some yummy hot dogs at top dog (obvi, we're in berkeley!!) and made our way to the greek. i was remembering that the last time i saw ben harper there i wasn't totally impressed. there were some good songs and fun moments, but it wasn't the best performance. luckily, ben must have remembered, because he put on a fantastic show.

damien marley opened and holy shit, he sounds just like his dad!! there was a great energy the whole time he performed and i honestly loved him a lot more than i thought i would. there was this crazy flag man who waved a flag and sort of marched/danced for the WHOLE hour damien performed. it was totally insane and that guy must have arms of steel. so random. also, i totally want to be one of his backup singers/dancers. those gals GOT DOWN and looked like they were having a great time.

and, there was so much pot, more than i've ever seen or smelled at a concert. trust me, i've been to several at the greek, and a million dave matthews band concerts, so i know my shit. i think aaron and i were the only ones not lighting up. of course everyone went crazy when ben harper sang, "burn one down." damn, i think people thought there was a revolution going on!! hee hee!!

ben harper started with radioactive (crazy beatbox!!) and sang "steal my kisses." that was my second favorite performance of the night. i couldn't believe this guy's beatbox talent, and it was such a fun colaboration with that song. my fav performance was when ben sang "there will be a light" and i almost cried. if he sang "my beloved one" after that, i would have bawled. i secretly thanked him for not singing my favorite song. this concert was soooo much better than when i saw him with jack johnson several years ago!!

the concert was longer than i thought, but we thankfully had enough time to drive to fenton's before they closed. i decided not to do a black and tan, and had a sando and an ice cream soda instead to. die. for. yum yum and yum. i got coke flavor with vanilla ice cream, and they made it perfectly. all the soda stuff in the glass and all the ice cream OVER the glass, not getting in the soda. damn, i know this sounds crazy, but that vanilla ice cream was sooooo heavenly. just vanilla, but it was perfect.

i am just super happy that we got there about 15 minutes before they closed. they actually sat some people down a few minutes before midnight and said, "if the rest of your party shows up after midnight, we will lock the doors on them." and they totally did!! yikes!! but yes, heaven!! the whole day was a fun-fest and i had a great time.

today is cleaning up my resume/making a coversheet, laundry, cleaning up day. time to clean up all the messes i made throughout the week and great ready for another possibly hot one here in the bay. horray for pools!! oh, and fresh fruit!! thankfully the farmer's market here still has incredible produce. sweet peaches, nectarines, raspberries, strawberries, cherries and much more!! it sounds like fruit salad extravaganza night!! :)
