good evening!!

so tonight is going to be a lot of coolio links to cal stuff. i just want to mention to those who might not already know...i bleed blue and gold. ever since i can remember, i've been going to cal football and basketball games. i was so freaking excited that cal beat icky stanFUrd today, and by more than the dumb point spread!! it's the first big game i had seen cal win!! first, is kyle boller's cool pic of the fans picking him up. the axe made it our way, right in front of us. i was so excited because i had never seen that thing up close in person.

the big game is really a big game to me. i read a bunch of retared articles by stupid sports writers in the bay area who were like, "it's not a big game to me." well, you didn't grow up rooting for either cal or dumb stanFUrd, so you don't understand it. i love going to them in berkeley...seeing all the frats and sororites all dolled up in blue and gold. it's just a fun atmosphere, and i love how everyone gets all ready for it!! today, there were two great signs that were flying by the stadium. usually you get a go bears one, or whatever, but these were classic. the first one said, "stanFUrd rugby. home of the brave. NOT!!" and the second one said, "stanFUrd rugby. do you need c-c-c-courage? see oski" i was freaking DYING!!! for those of you who don't know...the last 2 years, stanFUrd has chickened out bigtime and not played cal in rugby. something about they're afraid they'd get hurt. hilarious since it's the freakin toughest sport out there. but sports illustrated poked a lot of fun at them, so i'm happy. :) those signs were great...go bears!!

back to the game...i'm super excited that jemeel powell returned a punt 84 yards for a touchdown!! it was really the only uber-exciting play of the game. boller tried to throw a hail mary in the beginning to be all coolio, but it didn't work out. i was actually looking for a fake P.A.T. cause boller always holds them. whatever. but speaking of P.A.T.'s....jensen missed a few today!! i guess he broke his streak of 72 consecutive P.A.T.'s. hella crazy...and, joe igber ran for 226 yards, beating a record from like 1956!! i found some cool quotes from both teams if you wanna check them out.

after the game, the students rushed the field (with 11 seconds left...i thought we'd get in trouble for sure) and eventually took down both goal posts. i only saw them take down the one in the north end. hella crazy sounds when it snapped twice...but i just wonder how much those suckers cost...

but i do need to mention that this was the 20th anniversary of THE PLAY. yes, the best moment in college football. i was 2 when it happened, and have no recollection of it. i do remember wearing my mom's original shirt that has the play on it when i was little, and always knowing how it happened. i was brainwashed at a young age..hee hee!! but i have to say that joe starkey makes it all the more memorable. every time i saw it on sports center this week, they would stop talking over the clip, because starkey well, i'll just tell ya what he says, "The Bears have won! Oh my God! The most amazing, sensational, dramatic, heart-rending, exciting finish in the history of college football! ... Excuse me for my voice, but I have never, never seen anything like it in the history of any game in my life!" but it's hilarious because as they're marching/lateralling (is that a word??) down the field, he can BEARly (hee hee!!) contain himself. when he gets excited about stuff, he just starts screaming rather than letting you know what's happening. but yeah, i found the quote and wanted to share it with you. :) and, this is a good article from a stanFUrd grad's point of view. also, this is probably the best picture from that game. i just think it's silly that stanFUrd can't let go that they lost. their band didn't even perform at halftime. (cal was sooo good, they played john mayer, coldplay, and nelly...it's getting hot in here...and some danced and took their clothes off!!) but all they did at halftime was go over the play, and how someone from cal had his knee down during the last play. get over it. they ruled in cal's favor, end of story. i guess in their record books, it says it's a 20-19 victory over cal. riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight...

but, okay. i think that's all my ranting about cal and stanFUrd for a while. enjoy the links and my biased opinion about cal. go bears!!

last...(no, not lastly, there's no such word) i wanted to wish some special a happy birthday today. yes, "daniel" is 23. "23 and so tired of life..."~yeah dave matthews band!! but seriously, from me to you: "I love you, man. Just wanted to say it"~tenacious d
