hey kiddies!!
as promised, here is the second half of my trip to canadia!!
when i last left off, it was valentine's day. i got the coolest present ever: a journal from beanie. awwwwww. he drew some stuff in it, and wrote so many amazing things. i totally cried when i got it. thanks, cutie!! we went out to dinner that night with his parents and his sis and her bf to a restaurant close to their house. it was really yummy, and i was totally full. and beanie and i split some raspberry sorbet. i was in heaven!!
we went into town again on tuesday to do some shopping for my family/friends. it was great to walk around, looking in the shops, and holding bean's hand. i miss the little things like that so much already. but i had a ton of fun at one touristy shop, buying silly canadian shotglasses, or t-shirts that said, "EH" on em. we had lunch at a mall down there, and i got to have poutine (see definition below) for the first time!! there was also an A&W which made me about pee my pants with excitement. i don't know where there's one around here, cause those suckas keep taking em away. i'm not sure if you know, but i love love love ice in my soda. and i bought one for me and bean, and didn't notice till i sat down that there was no ice in them!! i was like, "wtf??" there was actually a little sign on the cup that stated they didn't put ice in the drinks anymore because it dilutes it. yeah, if you take 75 years to drink it. i think this was also the night i requested that bean make me some popcorn. he's soooo good at it. cause it's not the microwave stuff, or even the air-popped kind...just made in a pot. but he knows that i only like a little butter and salt, so i think it's totally perfect. and even better that i can ask and he'll make it!! i have a slave for life!! hee hee...kidding. oh, and i think we watched napoleon dynamite, AGAIN. bean is so good at doing impressions...it's scary.
wednesday was sort of a blob day. i say that cause i don't know how else to describe it. it was the day i was flying back home. siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. also, this is when the nhl officially announced that there would be no hockey season. what a crappy day!! anyway, we had to catch a ferry from victoria to vancouver, hop on a bus to the airport, and say our goodbyes. i tried not to make it seem like it was a big deal, or i would have had big ol' tears flowin really fast. i of course saved this for the plane. thank goodness i had a window seat, and could just stare out and nobody could see me.
but i had so much fun with bean, and honestly, the days felt like minutes to me. i think the fact that we lost a day when i came AND when i left didn't help matters. here is what i did learn aboot canada!!
*U-Turns. can't do em. at least, not at a signal. bean says that if you pull over to the side, and wait for traffic to clear, then you can do em. that is still odd to me. (odd to bean, too!! he freaked out when i did one when he was here!!)
*Poutine. pronounced: poo-teen. canadia's version of chili cheese fries. well, that's my best explanation, anyway. we had it on tuesday, and it's basically fries with gravy and cheese curds. bean got it from a place called: new york fries. but they only have them in canada. (also, same with: boston pizza) i guess that's their comeback to us having: canadian bacon.
*French. the language is on everything. you have a bottle of ketchup, and everything is listed in english and french. thank goodness i took french in high school!! zut alor!!
*Touque. prounouced: two-que. it's another word for beanie.
*Chains. i knew there would be like mcdonald's and pizza hut and crap like that up there. but did you know there was michael's and red robin?? damn, we're invading with all our crappiness.
*Sorry. sweet lord. this is like every other word out of a canadian's mouth. i'll admit, i started saying it too. i had heard about this, but didn't know it was really true until i was at the airport when i had just flown in. bean and i went to get pizza, and some guy next to him got a bit close when they were looking at what kind to order, and both immediately say, "surry, surry aboot that." i was fucking CRACKING UP. nobody had even touched each other or anything. damn. i wonder what the world would be like if everyone was more polite like this.
anyway, that's the rest of my canada update!! woohoo!! i know i promised another update with jobs and shtuff, but i haven't made any annoucements yet, and don't plan to for a while. let's just say that the news is freakin awesome and if you want to know more details, you know where to reach me. happy times, happy times!!
p.s. oh yeah. i just realized that i might be allergic to milk, and/or lactose intolerant. i'm not sure if the difference (if there is one) but i guess i should get this checked out!! random.
